A treat to be in conversation with you! I think I need to understand more of her work to see the performance art (all I really know are her catchy radio hits)
don't forget that the priest who let Sabrina Carpenter perform in his Williamsburg church got fired, AND that incident led to the feds/whoever checking in on him and his money stuff which also led to ... the mayoral indictment in NYC. Sabrina Carpenter ... on the side of justice?????
Your points comparing the album cover to the Mikael Jansson photo of Cindy Crawford are really interesting! When I first saw the album cover, between the art and the name I immediately thought of Chris Von Wangenheim's fashion shots from the 70s where a doberman is biting the model (they seem to share a lot both aesthetically and conceptually). A lot of fashion/commercial photography from the 70s is particularly violent to its women subjects-- often considered an obvious backlash to women's lib. Carpenter seems to be referencing the 70s a lot as of late (I'm thinking specifically of her Rolling Stone cover)... The parallels between the 1970s and our current moment of backlash against feminism seem to possibly be playing out in the visuals Carptenter's current album roll out.
The cover of her latest album is just a bad knockoff of The Scorpions Animal Magnetism cover. Perhaps she’ll knock off LoveDrive next, which wouldn’t be so bad.

Her lyrics do fascinate! And frankly nobody working does a pun like Sabrina.

I love where you’re head is at here
I appreciate all your points in here (even our slight disagreements)!!!
Thank you! I think what makes Sabrina a Real One is that it's valid to disagree about her. Like, real art gives you a lot to consider!
